September 11th.... its know for the terror attacks thats changed the world as we know it. But this time it`s gonna change our perception of music as we know it by the sales of two of the top artist in hip hop. In less than 4 weeks, the showdown of sales between two of hip hops biggest artist will go down as one of the more popular release dates of our time. The two stars are complete polar opposites. One being noted as a good person and the other looked down as a bad one. One is rather light hearted but still stands strong while the other will likely too throw a plasma at you just for the hell of it. One gets the awards.. and the other gets the checks. One plays with teddy bears and the other polishes his guns after a cup of tea in the morning. Who will come out on top?



In this corner we have Kanye West. Kanye debuted in February of 2004 smashing the charts with his singles such as All Falls Down, Through The Wire & Jesus Walks. He made it too the top 10 of the billboard, even though none of them would reach #1 his album still debuted with over 400,000 copies of the album going off the shelf first week and soon making The College Dropout platinum as the album reached new heights and became a critically acclaimed album in the history of rap music. His second album, Late Registration would do just as well with the critics selling over 850,000 in its first week. Now its time for his third album, Graduation. Kanye West has dropped 3 songs from the album so far, Stronger, Can`t Tell Me Nothing & Barry Bonds. The two singles are now on top of the radio charts after about a month and a half of spins. His album is looking very promising as the 3 tracks have been hits with the fans. He hasn`t missed one beat yet.



Now in the other corner we have Curtis "50 Cent" Jackson. 50 cent debuted in 2003 with smash hits such as In Da Club, P.I.M.P., 21 Questions & Many Men. All these tracks made him the most popular aritst for just over 3 years. His debut selling over 800,000 in the first week being the highest since Snoop and his second album, which spawned even more smash hits such as Candy Shop, Disco Inferno, and Just a Lil Bit, selling 1.5 Million in his first week, almost debuting higher than his boss did, Eminem. All of those have been on the top of the charts and most would peak at or near #1, now this time around its been hard for 50 to get back on top of the charts with so much controversy, beef and underestimation from the public. 50 Cent started out his 3rd album with Straight To The Bank & Amusement Park. Both records did ok but none did highly well, this would more than likely force 50 to push his album back, even though he say otherwise, to rearrange material. With doubt around him cause of two failed singles, atleast compared to his other, he would let out I Get Money and Ayo Technology along with a leaked Follow My Lead. These tracks seem to take it back to the old 50 feel of oh shit 50 put out something new? Yes in less than 1 week Ayo Technology ft. Justin Timberlake as bullied it`s way to #22 in radio spins with I Get Money not far behind. But dose this even matter for the G-Unit general who has missed 2 out of 4 tracks and had 1 leaked single & video?

At the end of the day 50 Cent is a Mega Star and Kanye west is a Super Star. One is bigger than the other with Kanye having a total of 6 million and 50 having a total of over 20 million albums sold. Then kanye has hit with 3 solid tracks and 50 hit with 2 after 2 of them fell off and one is a Boss while the other is still a worker. Is Kanye just riding 50 Cent`s flame? Or is 50 Cent just outta steam. The real question is who has the better album and do sales even matter? On September 11th (Or whenever they both leak) I will be reviewing both albums together in a joint review, at the end I will declare who the winner is based on the quality and entertainment value of the albums.
