Amid the Young Buck phone conversation controversy and everything surrounding his departure from the group, the surviving members of G-Unit have managed to release their second group album “Terminate on Sight” after the success of the nearly 3X Platinum “Beg For Mercy” in 2003. In order to prep myself for this review I went back to the first G-Unit album, a compilation laced with hit song after hit song including “Stunt 101”, “Smile”, “Wanna Get to Know You” and “My Buddy” among others. T.O.S. starts off with a song called “Straight Outta Southside” which is not a bad attempt at matching the energy and gangsta mentality of NWA’s original version in 1988. “Piano Man” & “Close to Me” are the #2 and #3 mediocre songs leading up to the single Rider Pt. 2 which has had the club blazin’ ever since it released. “You So Tough”, the #6 track on T.O.S. is arguably the best song on the album, produced by Ky Miller.

It’s a classic G-Unit gangsta track that features lyrics that taunt rappers who “talk it, but don’t live it” and 50 even takes a couple shots at T.I. on the final verse. That proves to be the high point on the album although joints like “I like the Way She Do It”, “The Party Ain’t Over”, “Don’t Wanna Talk About”, and “Ready or Not” are certainly solid tracks, the radio friendly G-Unit that seemed to never stop releasing hit singles in 2003/04 simply does not appear on this album. Maybe it’s because 50 didn’t have as much writing influence on T.O.S. as Beg for Mercy or maybe they just fell off. Whatever the reason, Terminate on Sight won’t be the album of the year although it certainly is worth buying if you don’t mind downgraded lyricism, as Tony Yayo is featured on this album more than Young Buck. The producers on T.O.S. aren’t necessarily the most popular except for Swizz Beatz (who produces a track called “Get Down” which is an OK track at best) and there aren’t any outside features unless you’re counting Young Buck but they manage to deliver a solid hip-hop album that caters primarily to hard core gangsta rap listeners. If you’re a pop fan that liked Beg for Mercy, you might as well bust a U’y on your way to Best Buy. This ain’t for you.

Who reviewed this shit? Yeah BFM is a better album, but maybe its me, was My Buddy a hit song? Yeah it was a dope song, but a hit song? Stunt, Wanna Know You, and Smile none were hit songs, and the last two were chick songs, Then they say the G Unit who dropped hits in 03/04 isnt on the album, and maybe its cause they fell off? WTF? I dont no, all I here is G Unit does pussy radio chick song, we want the street shit blah blah blah, then they drop an album that has mad street joints, really only a couple of clubby radio type songs and then you get guys like this saying the fell off? Yeah TOS isnt as good as BFM, but if this album was filled with radio, chick songs they'd be saying G Unit lost there street music, they only on that radio shit. And if your a pop music fan, why the hell would you be listening to G Unit anyway? Duh. TOS is a hot album, not BFM, but in this day and age of Soulja Boy and wack shit like Wayne, I'll take the street shit they be dropping anyday.

cosign that shit...real talk... shits fire, but the hooks r wayyy better on beg for mercy, 50 is better on beg for mercy, and id rather hear buck then yayo....but other than that the shits hot....i jus dont no where they gonna go from here as far as the next single cause i really cant think of any other songs that r singles besides maybe kitty kat or somethin

True, BFM was a great album, and I dont really care about hearing Buck or anything, Yayo is fine to me, after Bucks actions lately I dont fuck with him no more, shit I dont fuck with the south, only gave Buck a chance cause he was in G Unit, but yeah there arent any big singles on this album, which I dont mind, I'm cool with the street type mixtape shit they have on the album, but their next single will be either Kitty Kat or Get Down, and since Get Down was the song that came out and is getting some play on radio, and since its a Swizz track, that will be the next single, Swizz in the video and all that. But the album is fire, real street, alot of hot tracks, not BFM, but the Unit came so strong first round, GRODT, BFM, HFM, SOC, Doc, and even Yayos shit, none of them will ever top the first albums they dropped, but if they drop hot shit I'm cool. May not be as good as BFM, but its still a hot album.

The reviewer gotta be on crack. How did they fall of when they deliver a hot street album. Maybe BFM was a bit better but TOS is still dope tho. I think Close to me could be the next single. It has hit potential imo.

Right now SOS is the hottest street joint in NYC, I would say Hi Hater is the biggest radio club joint, but SOS is the street joint of NY right now, LL remixed it, I'm sure alot of rappers will be remixing it, Flex plays that shit more than any other song on his radio show. But I think Close To Me should be the next single, track is mad hot, dope beat, Banks rips the hook, has that slow vibe to it, for the ladies, but its not a soft track, its a smooth track, Fif rips his verse too, I think they might go with Get Down cause of Swizz, big producers, could be in the vid, but the hook is too wack, Close to Me would be the perfect song with a hot video, should be a nice single. Im not sure about it being a hit hit record, but def will be a good single.
