Nas Calling On Rappers To 'Get More Real'

Queensbridge MC Nas has been blessing his fans with his brand of thought provoking story telling for years. Now the rapper is issuing a challenge to his lyrical brethren to highlight more than just their "jet setting" lifestyles in their rhymes.

"When you first get into the music business, you're excited to be there, you want to make records that everybody's loving," the rapper said in a statement. "But, after you've got years in the game, you wanna give people the real side of you, show people some character."

According to Nas, rappers should write more songs that focus on the realities of life those less fortunate are experiencing.

"Life is good; there's yachts, there's nice cars, there's movie roles. We overcame... but, in the middle of all that... you can't forget about the ones that didn't make it with us. Life is good, but that still doesn't erase all the horror out here," Nas said.

Damn this dude speaks so real. Finally somebody has spoken out about it but the sad part of it is rappers will continue to speak about nonsense and shit that dont matter to helping each other out.

Its like Jay walkin up to Nas and sayin.."listen Nas, you need to rap a lil more like me. rap about riches and rap about the mentality you had trying to get those riches"

Every rapper is different....Soulja Boy is wack but thats just how he raps...Cam'Ron likes to make up words so his raps kind of rhyme...lil wayne has an annoying voice and corny punchlines, and is on drugs....thats his style...

Each rapper is different and has different things to talk about...you cant have all rappers talkin bout the harsh realities...

If everyone would rap like Nas, then Nas wouldnt be special...

Nas has always been a man that speaks the truth. How many times can you rap about
Hoes, clothes and money? I use to buy CD's when they first hit the shelves. Now, I take my time and really listen to the concept of what an artist is trying to communicating. A lot of new school rap is straight garbage. When some quality music is made then I will start spending money on music again. Anyone can follow the crowd... How long will the crowd follow you?

I hear what Nas is saying and I agree but only up to a point...Take Rick Ross for instance...he has been exposed yet people don't give two shits whether he's real or not because he makes "good music"...to be quite honest when I'm in the club or at a house party I'm tryna have a good time...Why do you think songs like 'Ballin' and 'I Get Money' did so well? People have good days and bad days...as humans our moods change so much thoughtout the day...
