Def Jam Rep: Jermaine Dupri Firing Rumors Are Not True
Published: Monday - August 25, 2008 As previously reported by Yo! Raps, word on the street was that Jermaine Dupri had been fired from Island Def Jam Music Group. Sometimes rumors turn out to be true, but that is not the case this time around as a rep for Def Jam has just come forward to dismiss the claim. Last Friday (August 22) a source was being quoted by several media outlets saying, "I am being told that JD's termination papers were being drafted this afternoon." According to Laura Swanson, SVP of Media and Artists Relations at Def Jam, the source's story was completely fabricated. "There is absolutely no truth to the rumors regarding Jermaine Dupri," Swanson said in a statement to SOHH. "They are completely untrue. And you can quote me if you need to..." Jermaine has been working for Def Jam as the head of Def Jam's urban division since late in 2006. He was also the producer behind Monica's fourth studio album, "The Making Of Me" and had worked on multiple tracks on Jay-Z's "American Gangster." - By Erin T. McMillon Source: Yoraps
