OLD SCHOOL RUMORS!
You know, today's rumors really lack - compelling stories. But, back in the days, they had some serious stuff going on. You know, I can tell you what the 80's were like - word to Juelz Santana. So, I heard that back in the days (I think the late 80's) KRS-One and Steady B had the session for the song on Steady B's album "Let The Hustlers Play," but Big Daddy Kane was in the same studio for a different session. If you know Philly Hip-Hop, you know Cool C and Steady B were crew. So, Cool C is also in the studio too. Remember Cool C did the song "Juice Crew Diss," where he went at the legendary NYC crew. (Oddly, he sounded a lot like MC Shan on that song, but that's a different story.) From what I understand, Kane could care less about songs that Cool C was writing. But Cool C apparently dissed Kane to his face when he saw him at the studio. Cool C, from what I understand, used to punk people cause he was actually kind of tall. But, if you know 80's Big Daddy Kane...you know he would throw down and handle his. I heard that Kane thrashed Cool C in the studio something serious! Now, from what I heard, there was a major fall out from this. Not to mention there was already existing tension between Philly and New York (Pop Art anyone?). Now, I heard after he tore into Cool C, Kane had a difficult time coming back to Philly, because of Cool C's street connections. The cool part is that Lady B, the pioneering female MC/ personality, brokered peace for Kane. Alls well that ends well, right? Shout out to the old school. Young bucks, you don't know the 80's! I INTERRUPT THIS RUMOR FOR SEAN BELL! Sean Hannity is really a clown. Somehow Mark Fuhrman's racist a$$ got in the Sean Bell discussion. I don't think he was racist enough for ol' Hannity, so he shifted the conversation to dissin' Charles Barron. How did the Sean Bell murder, turn into a discussion about Charles Barron? See it for yourself! BACK TO THE PHILLY RUMORS! Man, I'm hearing that Peedi Peedi is pretty damn heated right now! Here is what a homey of mine told me about the matter: His album is done and shelved. No release date and no callbacks from Jay. In fact he has a cut he's just done going at Jay. More like a cry, I haven't heard but my son has. And to tell you the truth I believe he's out in the streets too much. Maybe because of his situation. Anyway, he filmed a video a couple of weeks ago, out here in North Philly. But his career is like on "time out" and its affecting him. He doesn't know what to do, but he's talking like he wants to bounce from the Roc and talk to 50 and the Unit. All I can say is Peedi is really ill and I hope we can hear his music one day, whereever he is. You know, his verse on The Roots album made me want to see him join the group as an acceptable replacement for the often-absent Malik B. MORE PHILLY RUMORS!! I heard that EST, The Acknickulous One, has recently been back in Philly. (Now, this is one rapper that I feel was overlooked too much because he wasn't in New York, but that's another story. Also, I didn't love the Kwame affiliation on Three Times Dope's second album.) Well, I heard that EST might have suffered some sort of wound down in Miami and returned to his roots to recover. Now, I'm not sure of the exact nature of this rumored wound, but I hope it's not too serious. If you know like I know, EST has a lot of work left in the world. AllHipHop.com Weekly News Wrap-Up 3/16/2007 MORE PHILLY RUMORS - CASHIS vs CA$HIS!!! Cashis is Eminem's new signee, right? Well, there is a rapper in Philly that is reportedly really ill who carries the handle Ca$his. There is the distinction of the $, but I heard the Philly dude isn't too happy about this. Well, you know what's next - DIS RECORDS! Guess who I hear manages this Philly Ca$his? Cee Knowledge aka Doodle Bug of Digable Planets! MORE PHILLY RUMORS- THE ROOTS AND THE FUGEES!!! Anyway, this reminds me that Digable was really dope back in the day, but I heard there was some beef with the Fugees due to the same group line-up (two males and a female rapper) . On the same note, I heard that back in the day, The Roots and the Fugees had their share of creative beef. Well, since the Roots and the Fugees both had live bands they were extra dope on stage. They would both cover old school rap songs and rap to them. Well, some of these songs and overall style was apparently too close to each other at times. I don't think there was ever any friction on a physical level, but the word "biters" was tossed around. This is just some rumor stuff. There was never any hardcore confirmation from my angle. MORE OLD SCHOOL RUMORS! You remember a song called "Beat You Down?" It was the single-most illest diss record against KRS-One and Boogie Down Productions. I know there were a lot of disses going back and forth, but Rockwell put it down on that one. He would go on to be in that group Screwball. Well, after "Beat You Down" there was a huge windfall. Just Ice, the original Hip-Hop gangster, was down with BDP at the time. Whew, they had some bangers back then. I HEARD Just Ice kept his share of bangers on him too. Rumor has it he went looking for Rockwell with something long and sawed off in QB after "Beat You Down" came out. I mean, I heard this was like in mid-day or something. Just Ice...to this DAY is one of the most fearsome rappers. And, Rockwell...he still goes down in history as having the most illest diss record against BDP (in illseed's humble opinion). CHINGY NEVER LEFT DTP? From what I heard, Chingy never actually left Disturbing Tha Peace. Yes, there was a major falling out between him and the crew, but from a legal point of view, he was still signed to them. See, the Lox may be able to get out of these contracts, but most artists can't and Chingy was under a reported 4-album deal. DTP's logo simply didn't appear on the CD's, but the paperwork never changed - according to my intel. Anyway, if DTP is going to get money, they might as well "GET IT." Chingy ups his stock and everybody is happy? SINBAD DEAD? I got this in my inbox and it is rampant on the internet: Sinbad, born David Adkins (November 10, 1956 - March, 14, 2007) was an American stand-up comedian and actor. He became known in the late 1980s and 1990s, appearing on several television series and starring in the feature films Houseguest (1995), First Kid and Jingle All the Way (both 1996). He succumbed to a fatal heart attack on the morning of March, 14, 2007. I don't know for certain, but if Sinbad died on the 14th, we'd have a hard confirmation by now. Rest in Life, Sinbad, because I don't know where you are. I just know you aren't dead! Stop starting these death rumors! Why can't it be like Sinbad was caught surfing in Hawaii and it be wrong? Or Sinbad married Gabrielle Union in a secret wedding? Why death? Moving on... PRETTY RICKSTER UPDATE! OK, OK, OK...that "fight" I spoke of with Pretty Ricky was pretty major. Somebody was shot...you know, I knew this..I just get tired of the BS. Still, the group had nothing to do with it. Also, they aren't breaking up (I never said they were), but there is rumored to be internal friction. And the dude "Leisure" (you call him "Pleasure") has definitely signed on with Jimmy Henchmen's CZAR Entertainment as a soloist. That's in stone. TERRANCE TALKS! In the new issue of Essence, Terrance Howard said that he tried to get with a few Black Women in Hollywood and was dissed and dismissed. Well, he eventually married his real sweetie. Read about it. "I tried to talk to Halle for a bit. Didn't call me back. Tried to talk to Gabrielle Union. Didn't call me back, either. I've heard it said that I only date White women. The only woman I really love is my wife, and she happens to be White. Who gives a damn? A lot of Black women get upset. You know the fact is, we are human beings." QUICKIES! Shout out to Gossip Girl Ashley! Rumor has it Halle Berry's man Gabriel Aubry may pop the big question soon. Dr. Dre affiliate G.A.G.E. has bounced from Aftermath Records! That's a first! Most people sit on there waiting for something to change. Source-allhiphop.com/rumors
