RAP superstar Kanye West has stopped working with other artists - to rival their success.

In an exclusive interview in Sevendays magazine, the rapper, whose new single Stronger went straight to No.1, reveals he is now turning down production work for mainstream stars.

He says it would help his competition because he wants to emulate the crossover appeal of singers such as Justin Timberlake and Beyonce.

Kanye, 30, said: " I want to be the number one artist in the world.That is my goal. I have to take some time out to really focus on myself."

Hip-hop stars such as Timbaland have carved out new careers by re-inventing artists such as like Nelly Furtado and Timberlake.

But Kanye said: "If I was producing for everybody else I couldn't compete with them.

"I would be put in the box of being a producer. So I have to ask myself what I want to do. Do I want to be the best producer or what?

"As you can see by songs like Stronger, I'm all about being an artist myself."

It's always good to be confident and to set your expectations high, but we all know he won't ever be the biggest musician in the world. He's one of the biggest Hip-Hop stars out, no doubt, and I'll be buying "Graduation" just like I did his other two albums.
