10/17/07 - 50 Cent's "Curtis" Has a Little of Everything

With the first week numbers officially in every backpacker and fan of Kanye West's Graduation is declaring victory over 50 Cent's Curtis. Not so fast my friends.

Not to take anything away from Kanye West's Graduation album but 50 Cent's Curtis is just plain better. With 17 total tracks, if you count hit for hit there is no comparison. With big time tracks like I Get Money and the club hit featuring Justin Timberlake, Ayo Technology, Graduation doesn't stand a chance.

50 does not isolate any of his audiences on Curtis. He has something for the club goers with Ayo Technology, something for the ladies with Follow My Lead featuring Robin Thicke and he also stays true to his hardcore rap followers with I'll Still Kill featuring Akon.

50 reached out to some of the big-name producers for Curtis, so lame beats were out of the question. With names like Dr. Dre and Timbaland, with a little Havoc, Eminem and Apex sprinkled in, production also favors Curtis. Kanye West is a good producer in his own right, but he decided to produce all his tracks, which can make an album sound repetitive.

While sales in the USA favor Kanye West for now, everyone seems to forget how heavy 50's influence is in Europe, and the final sales won't even be close across the Atlantic. There is no doubt in my mind that when it's all said and done that Curtis will outsell Graduation and 50 will be laughing Straight To The Bank, a la track no. 10 on the album.

i agree, if he put effort into his lyrics like he used to id vibe 2 more songs, but sumtimes i jus shake my head at sum of the shit that he says

i also thought his flow coulda been better on alotta songs

but alotta the beats were tight, lotta the hooks were dope but still if your a rap fan then lyrics are one of the most important elements 2 a song
