The Detroit News reports that sources close to a local radio station believe that Eminem's hospital stay during the holidays that was reportedly caused by pneumonia complications, was actually a cover up for a relapse related to his addiction to sleeping medication .

Reports surfaced Tuesday (January 8) that Eminem was rushed to hospital during the holidays from complications that arose from the pneumonia which included a serious heart condition and weight gain.

Em's publicist, Dennis Dennehy, would confirm reports saying that the rapper had been under doctors care in a Detroit hospital and was discharged to recover at his home.

However, The Detroit News claims that Mojo in the Morning, a radio show on Detroit’s 95.5, reported on its website Tuesday that its sources claimed Eminem was “hospitalized on New Year's Eve at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital due to complications from taking benzodiazepine, a tranquilizer with sedative qualities”.

Eminem spent roughly two months in a rehab clinic for his addiction to sleeping medication in 2005.

Representatives for the Henry Ford Hospital would not confirm that Eminem had been a patient and Dennehy did not give further details about the rapper's reported illness.

Eminem has been away from the limelight in the past two years working on his fifth album and various projects from artists under his Shady Records imprint.
