Serious: SOHH Vs. SOHH
I read something a former blogs editor for SOHH wrote recently. According to him, G-Unit "saved hip-hop from a fate worse then death at least once, and probably twice."

He went on to nonsensically deem G-Unit as the reason "hip-hop became dangerous again" and that "parents, politicians, and preachers spoke out against G-Unit's music and warned about it's effect on America." He continued with "talk shows called in hip-hop bloggers to explain this crisis of violence in the music that was spilling out in the street." Are you serious? Yes, he was dead ass. To top it off, he gave 50 Cent and his entourage full credit for "inventing and perfecting" the mixtape.

I could've smashed my entire fist through my flatscreen.

Let's break down his ridiculously asinine heap of arguments:

1. "Saved hip-hop"? 50 Cent moving a diamond debut LP is an astonishing accomplishment, but a single top-selling LP does NOT equal hip-hop redemption. It's a shame in the way that sales are recognized before QUALITY. Not to mention the way he candy-shopped, club-oriented, mechanicalized, and capitalized hip-hop so badly to the point to whereas rap is an even more generic, pop-centered, money-making machine now than what it's ever been—EVER.

2. "Hip-hop became dangerous again"? Because 50 Cent stole a dead rapper's name, savored in his "shot 9 times" incident to the point to where it could be his second alias and fabricated over 85% percent of his rhymes, hip-hop became dangerous again? And hold on… an older guy believing this guy's imagined war stories? You've got to be kidding me.

3. The authority of America spoke out on G-Unit and warned the children of their lyrical content and hip-hop bloggers were called on to explain the violent buzz in the streets? Oh please. Violence and corruption dwelling in lyrical content was NOTHING NEW to the game. And not only were these exaggerated statements ridiculously outrageous, but they were just silly. So I'll just leave those two alone to continue kicking themselves in the ass.

4. Pushing a substantial amount of mixtapes does not give one the leverage, clout, authority, or whatever else, to claim the upper hand of its existence. So since 50 Cent had stopped with the mixtapes, what you're saying is that Papoose “invented” it? Papoose “perfected” it? No. There were a million different DJs pushing out mixtapes left and right, to and fro between, as well as before and after, the gap of 50 Cent and Papoose. Those two happened to be the ones moving the MOST copies, but that doesn't mean they "revitalized" the underground scene; a scene that existed BEFORE 50 Cent. Only someone who had never heard of mixtapes would say something as asinine as this.

So what is G-Unit doing for hip-hop today? Considering the amount of massive radio and video manipulation —emphasis on the word "manipulation"—Tony Yayo did nothing for the rap game. After the papers were signed, Mase became an even bigger laughingstock of New York City than what he already was. M.O.P. is M.I.A, Spider Joke is nothing but a gimmick, a Game replacement. Lloyd Banks hit the scene hard the first go-around, but after two recently-released singles that got no buzz he got his new album pushed back to September. This, of course, caused 50 Cent to hurriedly dash to the underground lab to forumlate a crack Silvers-sampled record as a means to keep us from forgetting (lol) "the next Def Jam." Hmm.... Such a desperate attempt from someone who "invented" and "perfected" the mixtape. Looks like this "invention" is his last resort right about now.

Admit it, Hash. After a short lived height of its existence, the G-Unit brand is experiencing “a fate worse than death,” and no one is even missing it.

I gotta agree with you there homie Em, productions are sounding far better lately than Dre Dre's production on Busta's dissaponting " Not so Big Bang" album
