I was impressed. Mayweather actually out boxed De La Hoya. De La Hoya was fighting hella sloppy, dude was just throwing whatever and praying one connected.

alot of ppl say that but i think Mayweather was a smart fighter he felt like he didnt have to waste his energy cause oscar wasnt that good.

yeah but for someone to say they are gonan massacre someone else and to hype it up like it was i was expecting something more. like when de la hoya was getting tired i thought mayweather was going to go to work in like the 8th round. but he just stayed with one punch and falling back.

yeah he out boxed him but it wasn't that much of a difference in the fight.

edit: but mayweathers defense is just to nice. I highly doubt he is going to retire.

you must be new to boxing. the whole point of matches is to hype it up like that. he wanted everyone to believe it was going to be one of the best matches of all-time so he can get more money out of it and have more people view it in the chance that he wins (which he did). He did outperform De La Hoya, but IMO Hoya should've took it. But I agree... the fight wasn't as entertaining and thrilling as I thought it would be... but not because of all the boasting about it.

on a side note, Spiderman 3 was dope as fuck. Really good movie..

Mayweather won because of two things:

1) 50 Cent was backing him up. Holding the belts and shit. You know 50 is a business man.

2) This month is, in fact, May. So I guess the May weather was favorable.

Boring in the fight? Yes.... but he out-boxed De La Hoya. Knowing how well Mayweather was able to defend, De La Hoya should have continued to work the jab to setup bigger combinations and stronger punches, instead of throwing shots 1 or 2 at a time.

Just like Duncan, he wasn't the most exciting .. but he definitely proved that he's one of the best (in his eyes, the VERY BEST).

fuck sake, i thought De La Hoya was gonna win, especially for the first 4 rounds or so then Mayweather came back ahr din the 5th, it was pretty even from then til the final round though, but im kinda pissed, i wouldve liked to see Oscar give Floyd his first defeat

yeah he said he got nothing to prove but he hasn't boxed alot of people still. I think it's smart of him in a way because he proved a lot and dosn't wanna be fucked up from the sport in the later years in his life but i highly doubt he'll stop. I think there might be a remix.

did anyone see the interview after with de la hoya... he sounded hilarious .. "i love boxxing though" with a huge smile on his face lol

Fuck mayweather. This fight is why Boxing is fucking done as far as im concerned. Mayweather did a great job of using his speed and choosing his shots. But IMO this fight was boring as fuck. I didnt like how mayweather would continually backpedal and throw a quick jab. De La Hoya could barely catch mayweather, but when he did there was at least some power behind it.

P.S. MMA >> Boxing. Sean Sherk would own Mayweather in the cage.

LAS VEGAS – UFC president Dana White said Saturday he plans to make Floyd Mayweather Jr. a multi-million dollar offer to fight his lightweight champion after Mayweather's numerous putdowns of mixed martial arts fighters.

About 90 minutes after Mayweather's victory over Oscar De La Hoya, a bout in which he earned $10 million plus a cut of the pay-per-view revenues that could double that figure, White said he was prepared to match Mayweather with UFC lightweight champion Sean Sherk.

White wouldn't be pinned down on a specific number, though he said, "I promise you, I will make it worth his while. I will make it very worth his while."

White was undaunted even after hearing of Mayweather's large payday.

"I told you, we can make him a very, very competitive offer if he still feels he can beat one of our guys," White said.

It's never going to happen tho.
