i think as ur musical taste evolves thats when u are able to adjust to different styles of rap.....because u weren't exposed to the 'proper' style of rap (not dissin mainstream rap, but thats not really rap) when u first listened to it, u get adjusted to whatever music u listenin to.....it takes a certain song or artist to really change your taste

as you progress, your musical preference gradually changes......despite how mnay people say 'i aint biased, etc...' whatever ur listenin to has a lot of effect on what u listen to.........if u look at illogic, self-centered user in the underground section

, he mainly thinks highly of the east coast and that the other coasts ahve some decent talent....but thats all

until u find that one song, it will have a huge impact on what u listen to

and imma be real for u straight up....there are some underground shit i cant stand like aesop rock, slug......but hey that doesnt mean they suck, its just i dont like their style......and if u know thias already or found this a bit too long to read, my bad

Actually a good read. I admit I was a G Unit fan when I first came like many, but my first exposure to real hip hop was Nas and it divulged from there.

When exposed to Vakill and Monch later, I couldn't comprehend why they were flowing off beat when all the other rappers are riding the beat. They wanted to be unique and creative (even though Vakill got his idea from Monch), I wasn't use to it and I will probably never will.

just like what the bitch, A.T.I., said is true (first half of his homo post).....flowing has nothin to do wit underground.....and on a side note, in my opinion, havin a complex delivery doesn't make u stand out or make u 'great'.......in reality, no one can really say why pharoahe monch as great as we say he is, because its up to u as the listener (or individual) to decipher/criticize the artist....although the general consensus generally regard monch as one of the greats thats because those group of people see the 'greatness' in him.....its really dependent on how u respond to his music.....since u say u cant stand him, then maybe ur musical flexibility aint broad/up to point for u to say it

I got the Darkest Cloud and Worst Fears Confirmed from Vakill.

I got MOnch's debut and the last album he did, Desire.

I tried to listen to it and I couldn't, it is not that the lyrical content is off but the way they deliver the lyrics is off. My whole life as a music listener everyone rides the beat but when it comes to those 2, they standout like morons to me. Sure I got a couple of tracks I can actually sit down and listen to but for the majority I can't.

It's not that I don't have a broad presence of music, but I have my own style of music that I listen to. And both those MCs are sick and I acknowledge their talent but that's the way it is.

I actually just opened the recent Blu and Exile album (which I had downloaded like 3 months ago from ATI and never listened to it) and shit was hot. Did the same for Mr. Percee P.
