New Rap Group La Coka Nostra To Make LA Debut During Unity Festival

The Soul Assassins second annual Soul Assassins Unity Concert will take place Mar. 8 in Los Angeles at the Avalon Theater in Hollywood.

The concert, which was resurrected by DJ Muggs, DJ Khalil and Chace Infinite, will offer the first official Los Angeles performance by rap group La Coka Nostra.

La Coka Nostra is comprised of former House Of Pain members Everlast, Danny Boy, and DJ Lethal, Non Phixion's Ill Bill, and Boston's Slaine.

The group's name, which means "This Dope Thing of Ours," is a play on the Mafia term "La Cosa Nostra," which means "This thing of ours."

La Coka Nostra's debut album and companion documentary DVD will hit stores in 2007.

Other rappers scheduled to perform during the Soul Assassins Unity Concert include Evidence of Dilated Peoples along side Defari of the Likwit Crew, rapper Chino XL, rap group Pacific Division.

DJ's for the evening include DJ Mark Luv, J-Rocc of the Beat Junkies and Mr. Choc.

"The first show was an incredible night, it was proof that people still want to see quality Hip-Hop shows....Mar. 8 is gonna be crazy," said Soul Assassin's group member Chace Infinite.

The Unity concerts were launched in 1991 by William Lanakila Operin aka Bigga B.

The Soul Assassins relaunched the event last Nov. at the Knitting Factory in Hollywood.

Performers like Wu-Tang Clan, Nas, Busta Rhymes, Pharcyde, Biggie, Jay Z, Hieroglyphics, Boot Camp Click and others have performed during the festival's history.

In related news, Soul Assassins member DJ Muggs will team with Wu-Tang's GZA to release the Grandmasters Remix Album and World Tour DVD set.

The album features 12 new remixes of the songs on the original Grandmasters album, while the DVD features the making of the original Grandmasters album and tour footage from Russia, Australia, and the United States.

The Grandmasters Remix Album and World Tour DVD hits stores on Mar. 6 on Angeles Records.
