![]() Madvillan - Madvillany What do you get when you cross two of the most twisted and creative minds in hip-hop history ? Answer - a timeless classic. Production genius Madlib and hip-hop supervillan MF DOOM hooked up to create this master piece in 2004 and scored a suprise hit with mainstream listeners as it creeped into the Billboard Top 200, peaking at 179. With these two working together on a record, you only have a few things that are for certain - chaos and utter dopeness, the rest just plays out as if they ripped up the rule book. Anything that invovles Madlib in anyway at all means you are going to be treated to some of the freshest and most innovative production that the rap game has ever seen and the tracks on here don't disappoint in anyway. Every side of DOOM is shown on this album as creativity seeps out of every pour while he touches on subjects from politics, religion, drugs and love in what is ultimatley a ver socially concious album, once you see through the madness of course. Don't rate DOOM as either a lyricist or a top notch MC ? Save your opinions until you have gave Madvillany a few spins, who else would be creative enough to diss one of his own alter egos for cheating on his girlfriend ? Who else would do the equivilant to smacking you round the head with a large rock as he flips your entire view on world affairs on Strange Ways ? No one could except the Supervillan. We are now reaching the point of the review where my words can no longer describe the feeling that this album will give you. The best thing you can do is hear it for yourself and let the insane duo take you on a rollercoaster ride through their world. One things for sure, you won't feel cheated at all after hearing this, 22 tracks of excellence, no two tracks that sound even remotely the same. Everything fits so well with that these two set out to achieve, everything fits in right where it's supposed to just like a jigsaw, even the instrumentals found on the album do their bit for setting the mood for the rest of the tracks. Just remember - all caps when you spell the man's name ! A+ ![]()
