![]() Jedi Mind Tricks - Servants in Heaven, Kings in Hell 2006 saw the return of Jedi Mind Tricks who dropped their first group LP since Legacy Of Blood in 2004. A year out gave Vinnie Paz time to round up the troops and finally get the Army Of The Pharohs back into the studio together and also add to it, the result being the 13 track LP The Torture Papers. The Torture Papers was well recived by fans and provided the perfect way of announcing the return of Jedi Mind Tricks to the rap game and while the hype was at it's peak after the release of The Torture Papers they announced they would be droppin a new album in September. The album opens with a mysterious, dark, yet familiar intro from The Enemy of Mankind and sets the scecne perfectly for the rest of the album. The first track is entitled 'Put Em In The Grave' and any JMT fan will be well aware of what to expect on this track and the rest of the album. Track after track of violent rhymes by the religious fanatic Vinnie Paz is what fans will buy this album for, but suprisingly, Servants is not as one dimensional as fans may have expected. Vinnie has seemingly grew alot as an artist in his year out and he speaks on various new matters on the album which contains the emotional and heartfelt 'Razorblade Salvation' and the epic tale of the Vietnam war with R.A. The Rugged Man (who argubably had the verse of the year with his powerful imagery of war torn Vietnam) on Uncommon Valour. Stoupe is fantastic throughout, providing chilling musical interludes which perfectly compliment the bangin hip-hop beats as he mixes hard hitting drums with well thought out scratch samples on the records making the tracks very atmospheric, something many other producers fail to do. Just when you thought Vinnie was looking to be a poorer artist without Jus Allah he comes with out guns blazing and drops some of his hottest tracks in years on Servants. Even though his rhymes are not as fresh as they were on Violent By Design or The Physco Social, Vinnie's mic presence is as superb as ever and this will pull you back into listening time and time again. Vinnie proves that he does not need Jus Allah on the album to make it hot here, not that Im complaining about the reunion. In fairness, it is not the best release from the group, but it is still one of the best albums to drop in 2006. A ![]() .

No, listen. Big Picture was a nice album, but it is pure shit compared to LODPAD. L had no creative input on the Big Picture, while everything was in his control on his debut album. As his biggest fan, it wouldn't be fair for me to review an album that he didn't even get to develop his way.
